Cambridge Counselling for Binge & Emotional Eating

I support individuals in overcoming binge and emotional eating, and in calming overwhelming thoughts about food, using therapy with a practical grounded focus.

Understanding binge eating and overeating

Binge eating and overeating are coping mechanisms - ways to manage emotions and stress. In essence, they’re no different from other habits like smoking or excessive screen time. But because food leaves visible traces, it often brings anxiety, shame, and guilt to those affected.

This isn’t just theory for me. For over 40 years, I turned to food for comfort, stress relief, and to avoid emotions I didn’t know how to process. I lived with the consequences: guilt, shame, obsessive thoughts, and a life revolving around food and fitness. I practically lived in gyms, yet my mind was consumed 80% of the time with food-related struggles.

I am a qualified counsellor with a background in psychology. I know how consuming this can feel, and I work with people who are tired of the same repeating cycle.

End Binge & Emotional Eating – Free 30-Min Session

In our sessions we focus on understanding what binge and emotional eating are doing for you under stress, pressure or emotional overload. We map the pattern, identify triggers, and build alternative ways to regulate so food no longer has to carry that role. The work is steady and realistic: less shame, less panic around food, more internal stability over time.

Support is available in person (Cambridge) or online.

Take the first step toward a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food.

FAQs

  • I offer weekly sessions online or face-to-face. We start by making sense of your eating patterns and what sits underneath them: stress, emotions, anxiety, burnout, relationship dynamics, old coping strategies. We build regulation first, then we work with habits from a calmer place. If you have already done some therapy before, we pick up from where you are and focus on what is most relevant now.

  • I offer open ended therapy or coaching. The most important thing - it needs to work for you. It can be anywhere from 6 sessions to 60. Some people stay for years. There are no set rules. Usually the more complex is the issue, the more time it requires. It is also fine to come for a number of sessions, leave and return for more help as and when you need.

  • I’m based on Station Road in Cambridge, 5 mins from the train station, but also provide my services over Zoom for remote sessions.

  • I do not work with insurance companies, but I can provide invoices as I am registered as self-employed and some companies may accept that. Please check with your company benefits policy

  • My cancellation policy is 48 hours

  • I do not diagnose, but I work in collaboration with other specialists if necessary. If I believe I am unable to help you I will signpost you to the most appropriate specialist.
